This stone was originally discovered by dutch colonists in South Africa in the late 18th century and it is one colonist in particular to whom the name is attributed, Colonel von Prehn a military commander and a budding mineralogist. In fact, prehnite is the first stone to have been named after a man.
Candy Pear Earrings Prehnite
Colours vary from yellow to green, with apple green being its most common shade.
This pretty Sofia Necklace in facetted buttons, show Prehnite is all it’s wonderful shades of apple green.
The colouring of prehnite makes it compatible with other stones. I like to contrast it with amethyst and rose quartz, the purples and rose pinks of these stones, work well with the sharp greens of prehnite. I have enjoyed combining these stones in some of my collections, for example my Calypso amethyst and prehnite earrings.
