The Talitha Collection is one of Sushilla’s favourite Collections. So I thought it would be a good idea to catch up with her to find out why?! I began by asking her what made the Talitha Collection different from her many other collections
Me What makes the Talitha Collection different from your other Jewellery Collections?
Sushilla The Talitha Collection is not ‘designed’; with my other collections I arrive in India armed with drawings and a clear idea of what and how I want the the collection look like. With Talitha it’s all about what I find once I’m in India.
Me So what is the Talitha Collection?
Sushilla The Talitha Collection is made up of irregular, rose cut semi precious stones. I love mixing the colours and shapes to make stunning but simple pieces. The choice of stones used can vary from one trip to the next, depending on what’s available.
Me Which stones do you use in the Talitha Collection?
Sushilla I use a wide range of stones, Aquamarines, Sapphires in a lovely range of colours, Rubies, Moonstone, Labradorite, Morganite, Tanzanite, the list goes on!
Me So why Talitha? What makes this so special?
Sushilla I get to spend hours looking at, playing with and selecting the best stones available to make my jewellery. I love mixing the stones up, they all come in different shapes and sizes; and I have no idea how they they are going to work together until I start playing with them up. Love it!
Me Is there any down side to making Talitha?
Sushilla Oh yes, I can spend hours trying to find a stone to match to make a pair of earrings. Quite often I will find one stone that has a particularly lovely colour and shape and then not be able to find another to make up a pair of earrings. This is incredibly frustrating. But is also one of the strengths of Talitha. No two pieces can ever be the same, so each piece of jewellery is truly unique. For example although I might make 10 pairs of single drop Aquamarine earrings, they will all vary in size, shape and colour. As soon as a piece from the collection is sold, we have to remove it from the website and replace with another similar but different piece.
